Fanfac Ramblings

So I've decided to write a fan faction lore.

In 2042, about a decade after the flash, there was a man. This man was in a cold place, known as the Yukon. A former territory of Canada, it still retained national pride, and had flourished greatly in the postwar environment, despite the cold. The reason? It was small enough to be ignored by military planners, remote enough to be ignored by civilian bureaucrats, yet large enough to allow a provisional government to be set up while the radioactive rubble of Ottawa was shoved away.

This man was known as John Winterstone. He founded this organization, the Northern Lights Army, or NLA, as a gang of sorts. Being a paramilitary group of former soldiers and other survivors, the NLA was seen by some as just and a source of hope, and by others as a source of endless trouble. As its name suggests, the NLA was involved fairly heavily in maintaining order in the towns that tolerated and liked them, and consequently, the NLA became somewhat powerful.

In 2067, the Northern Lights Army is still fairly small, being limited to most of the Yukon. They have commandeered and fixed up several railway lines from the Yukon into Alaska, and down through to the BC-US border, along the 49th parallel. This permits them to travel quite a distance fairly quickly, at the cost of needing rare and expensive diesel fuel to do it.

In 2098, the NLA is all but disbanded, due to strife and corruption in its upper ranks, and a similar fission to what has happened to the USCPF has occurred. Split along lines, there are the Northern Lights Army and the Provisional Northern Lights Army. They both have similar goals, but they clash, often violently, over basic issues. Both are little more than large organized gangs now. The railways fixed up in the sixties have fallen into disrepair, and as a result, many NLA members are stranded far and wide, some even as far as Hawaii.
