The Tidewater Federal Police, or TIFEPOL, was the PRT Government’s premier as well as private interior police force and internal intelligence organization, before the fight that was named "The battle of Southside".
Originally formed out of an illusive and controversial paramilitary unit under the PRT Government’s Interior Ministry, TIFEPOL existed as an organisation shrouded in enigma that served to deter and stomp out crime, as well as to enforce the government’s political agenda by any means necessary.

During the Atlanta Crisis, many anti-US CDF members colluded with the MEB in order to stage a military coup, in which many pro-US CDF politicians and military leaders as well as US diplomats and politicians were killed off, assassinated, or kidnapped.
As Brazil and the CDF begun to form the People’s Republic of Tidewater, the acting puppet government saw a need for a dedicated system to enforce law and order, as well as to keep political opponents at bay.
Early on in the PRT’s existence, law was mostly enforced by the Army, but this was soon proven to be ineffective as it directly contradicted the PRT’s propaganda that painted the US as a militaristic nation that sought to oppress and take the South by force.
In order to shed the PRT’s image of being ran by a military government, many various government ministries were formed, giving the PRT more “depth” as a government.
In the year 2097, the PRT formed the Ministry of the Interior, also known as the Interior Ministry.
This ministry was tasked with handling the PRT’s internal affairs such as handling immigration and citizenship administration, however, it was also involved very often in more sinister objectives such as silencing political opponents and the intentional breeding of a Pro-PRT political atmosphere. The ministry was created alongside two other government ministries.
The Ministry of Defence, also known as MINDEF was tasked with directly overseeing the PRT Army, Navy and Air Force.
Despite the PRT’s efforts to shed its image of being a military government, the PRT Army was still given authority to declare martial law in more “unsafe” territories within the PRT such as the border regions and even the capital city of Tidewater: New Atlanta and other major population centers should an emergency occur.
Then there was the Ministry Of Justice, also known as the Justice Ministry or sometimes as the Justice Department.
The Ministry Of Justice recruited its members from former law enforcement personnel from before the Atlanta Crisis that aligned to the PRT’s ideals.
The Justice Ministry was primarily comprised of a large amount of small and independent state police forces and sheriff offices that were for the most part, governed and receive funding from the state government, as well as an allocated amount of funding from the Ministry of Justice.
The Justice Ministry was arguably one of the least biased or corrupt departments within the PRT, being viewed in an extremely positive light for their service to their community and the nation.
Because the majority of the PRT Army was comprised of people living in the South manipulated through propaganda and the Atlanta Crisis to fight the USA, the PRT government had to exercise an extreme amount of caution to prevent internal conflicts and strife within the PRT itself which could cause the nation to crumble from the inside out.
In order to help achieve its goals and ensure internal security, the Interior Ministry created an elite paramilitary organisation comprising of trusted personnel recruited from the PRT Army that were loyal to the PRT’s socialist federal government.
This organisation would be known as the Interior Security Command, an organisation that was neither under the jurisdiction of MINDEF or the Justice Ministry, but was solely under the Interior Ministry, which itself was only accountable to the head of state and sometimes members of the cabinet.
This unit bore the appearance of “unmarked” PRT Army soldiers (in standard BDUs) with their main identifiers being a shoulder patch on their right sleeve which depicted the seal of the Interior Ministry in subdued colours as well as military rank patches.
Apart from that, personnel from the ISC wore relatively blank uniforms with no nametags.
Being a “secret” and illusive force shrouded in enigma, the Interior Security Command would often appear in areas believed to be suspected of having pockets of terrorists, extremely dangerous criminals or political opponents.
The ISU saw a huge amount of success when it came to crushing down dissent, however, the Interior Security Command soon came under the scrutiny of the PRT Army in the year 2099, which were alarmed by the sudden appearance of these paramilitary troops from the Interior Ministry and were outraged by the fact that the ISU had been going around dressed like PRT Army soldiers which could potentially affect the army, and MINDEF’s image as a whole, should the Interior Security Unit do anything questionable.
Tensions within the cabinet ran at an all-time high when the Interior Ministry denied MINDEF the permission to know what the unit’s intentions were by stating that they were “classified” and it involved the government’s “internal affairs”.
In order to appease the Ministry Of Defence, the Interior Ministry was forced to enact a one year reform plan to transform the Interior Security Unitinto something completely different altogether, knowing that there was a huge amount of scrutiny for the ISU.
This reform would involve the Interior Ministry taking a wide-reaching and detailed census which sought out valued individuals within local police departments under the justice ministry and personnel from the PRT Military, often luring them in with “transfer packages” with extremely attractive incentives and bonuses.
By integrating and implementing systems and processes suggested by the personnel acquired during the reform, the Interior Security Unit was able to shed most of its “paramilitary” structure and habits, instead acquiring new policing and investigative capabilities to bolster the organisation’s effectiveness.
On the 29th of June in the year 2100 the Interior Security Unit was formally disavowed and reformed into the Tidewater Federal Police, also known within the government as “Office 629”. This successfully cooled tensions between the two government departments.
TIFEPOL’s existence was made public just 2 months later, which resulted in a large spike of willing volunteers, most of them being from existing local police departments under the Ministry of Justice seeking an “upgrade” from the often tiny and underfunded police departments that they were apart of.
Despite the public attention it received, recruitment for the Interior Police was incredibly selective, requiring a plethora of tests as well as an incredibly thorough background and aptitude test that ensures that only people that were extremely heavily aligned to the PRT’s ideals or susceptible to indoctrination would be selected.
Even then, TIFEPOL recruits would be weeded out in the grueling physically and mentally taxing training process, further seeking to weed out unsuitable volunteers.
Joining TIFEPOL and recruitment was mostly similar to the way the military did things. Applicants were subject to a medical review along with an extremely lengthy aptitude test in order to determine the person’s political stance and mental aptitude.
Upon acceptance into TIFEPOL, the candidates with no police background undergo Basic Police Training, also known as “BPT”, which teaches them on the laws and general policing skills such as learning to make arrests and basic firearm handling.
Upon completion of BPT, the candidates go on to undergo Advanced Police Training, also known as “APT”. Candidates with prior policing background from the various state police departments are able to skip BPT and go directly into the APT phase.
APT is an advanced extension of the skills that cadets learn in BPT and its main purpose is to properly drill and solidify habits into a person. It is also where Tifepol’s true intentions are revealed to the cadets, though, a watered down version to ensure that nothing too sensitive leaks out.
After APT, the cadets will be christened as proper TIFEPOL officers. However, they will still be required to undergo additional training.
Depending on their jobscope, they will be posted out to various police stations, prisons and departments to be trained in their specific specialisations. Though all TIFEPOL personnel have access to some form of restricted information, the actual police officers handling matters related to the atlanta crisis are handpicked, chosen for their zeal towards the PRT’s politics and being absolutely capable of being manipulated into doing what the government tells them to do.
Despite not being trained to the level of firearms handling as a professional military soldier in the PRT Army, field officers in TIFEPOL are still relatively proficient in firearms handling, with only certain elite or special operations elements of TIFEPOL being able to match up to the army’s combat prowess. Though, there were a fair amount of TIFEPOL personnel that were former military combat personnel.
In the following years as tensions between the USA and PRT began to simmer down, TIFEPOL would be known for being every criminal’s nightmare; an enigmatic organisation that operated with a scary level of brutal and ruthless efficiency.
Such rumours became so widespread that the very presence of a TIFEPOL Agent would be able to deter criminals or political dissenters from doing anything, even if the officer was alone and outnumbered.
This extreme fear primarily stemmed from the fact that unlike the local police departments or the military, which were often underfunded and preoccupied with other concerns respectively.
By comparison, TIFEPOL was not only well funded due to its unique role in the government, the force was known to be staffed by excellently trained (though, corrupt) personnel that would spare no quarter when it came to hunting a person or group down, with people or groups that create casualties for TIFEPOL or attack its personnel being shifted higher up on the organisation’s priority list: most criminal groups are outright terrified of Interior Police personnel and do their best to stay away from them as much as possible.
Even when approached by an officer, it was considered a common street-tip to simply comply to the officer’s instructions or attempt to bribe them. (Though bribes were a risky affair and may not work on every single officer)
Because of TIFEPOL’s effectiveness in cracking down on crime and political dissent in the major population centers, the PRT as a whole saw a steep decline in its crime rate as harsh penalties served as a deterrent for potential criminals, the increased risk when it came to smuggling illegal goods also resulted in the costs of black market items such as dew, illegal firearms and various other types of items skyrocketing to ridiculously expensive prices which made such items much harder to procure, which in turn, contributed to the cycle that lowered the PRT’s overall crime rates.
In order to hide from TIFEPOL, which were mostly present in the PRT’s major population centers: criminals were forced to shift the focus of their operations towards the border regions, which were mostly policed by local police departments.
This resulted in a huge spike in crime in rural parts of the PRT.
However, by the year 2115: TIFEPOL had also caught wind of such incidences occurring and there has been an increased presence of TIFEPOL personnel in certain vital areas along the border.
One such example of an area that is policed by TIFEPOL is the small border town of Southside, which had its own dedicated police department: the Southside Police Department, of SSPD for short.
TIFEPOL, being the PRT Government’s Interior Police Force, is tasked with the objective of enforcing law and order as well as crushing down political dissent, terrorism, crime syndicates and drug trade.
Originally, before 2115, Southside was formerly policed by the Southside Police Department, a local police department under the PRT’s justice ministry. However, due to a lack of proper funding and training for police units along the border, criminal syndicates and bandit groups that flooded into the border regions in an attempt to escape from TIFEPOL in the population centers resulted in a huge spike in crime rates along the border.
When the military declared martial law, the SSPD was relieved of their policing duties and the Interior Ministry sent TIFEPOL to not only control the populace, but to also ruthlessly hunt down these criminal syndicates, some of which: help to indirectly fund or supply bandit groups or terrorist movements, being a massive domestic threat to the PRT if left unchecked.
The SSPD was one of the independent police departments that was formerly under the jurisdiction of the State government and the Justice Ministry.
As crime began to go up in the area, MINDEF and the Interior Ministry collectively declared “martial law” in the border region of Southside, forcing the Justice Ministry to freeze SSPD’s assets and operations as well as relinquishing the SSPD’s policing duties to the PRT Army (which required specific permission from the PRT Government to do so due to being restricted from engaging in domestic operations by the constitution) and TIFEPOL, which was present to handle the increasing rampancy of crime along the border and put a stop to it. On top of that, TIFEPOL also has the secret goal of enforcing the PRT Government’s political agenda through sinister and subversive means.
In 2115, TIFEPOL and the PRT Army continues to patrol Southside, with all SSPD personnel having been transferred to enforce law in a “safer” part of Georgia, not a single trace of the SSPD remains in Southside, having been completely replaced by TIFEPOL.
TIFEPOL remains a symbol of the PRT as the government’s watchful eye, and its unrelenting wrath: ready to strike any foe that dares to challenge the government’s authority without restraint.
Land Policing Division
A Land Policing Division is a type of Line Department under TIFEPOL. It forms the backbone and majority of land units that patrol and conduct operations for the Interior Ministry. Almost every department within TIFEPOL, even if they aren’t in a line department will somehow end up working alongside a land policing division.
In the East, the land policing division is broken down into different sub-sectors for various priority zones and cities. Some examples include: New Atlanta, Austin, and the Halfmoon Region.
Protective Security Command (PROCOM)
Often seen in New Atlanta guarding key installations such as government offices and quarters, ISAs are also sent as part of a conventional policing division to the border regions to maintain security over government property.
In Southside, they can be seen lurking around discreetly both inside and outside the Justice Department, ensuring that no suspicious individuals sneak into the building due to the sensitivity of TIFEPOL’s operations.
Agents and Operators under PROCOM that are tasked with protecting vital installations are given a wide array of tools and equipment to help them achieve their objectives. Being tasked with security, they are given a loadout that is often similar to the FNB’s Special Task Force, however lacking the majority of specialised tools that INTSOC personnel are equipped with.
Interior Special Operations Command (INTSOC)
Widely feared throughout the PRT, the Interior Special Operations Command, often abbreviated as “INTSOC”, is a sub-department of specialist operators within the Interior Police. Well trained and deadly, INTSOC is comprised of various subunits with different specialisations that all have their own individual detachments that work alongside line units to tackle emergencies and special operations.
INTSOC’s motto is: “Veni Vidi Vici”, which was an infamous latin phrase made by Julius Caesar, translating to: “I came, I saw, I conquered”
INTSOC is a specialist department of TIFEPOL and is primarily responsible for being its center for tactical excellence.
INTSOC’s genesis can be found in the birth of TIFEPOL. Despite its predecessor: the Interior Security Unit being disbanded, almost all personnel were brought into TIFEPOL to help build up its operational capabilities.
In order to further strengthen TIFEPOL’s capabilities, the PRT Government requested for the MEB to bring in advisors from the MEB’s special forces units in order to help train up an extremely select group of TIFEPOL personnel and helping to set up INTSOC.
The pioneer batch of INTSOC personnel would later on to improve upon the tactics and skills they had learnt: passing them on to the next generation of operators from batch to batch.
Comprising of approximately 2,000 to 3,000 men in the entire PRT, INTSOC is amongst the most secretive departments within the PRT, tasked with conducting operations requiring special tactics and skills such as raids and hostage rescues.
INTSOC also regularly maintains a Crisis Negotiation Unit for when violence may not be the best approach.
Due to TIFEPOL’s high profile status and funding, it is able to afford better equipment for INTSOC personnel such as protective body armour.
INTSOC is broken down into two types of specialist units: Special Tactics Squadrons, as well as Anti-Swarming Teams.
The roles of the Special Tactics Squadrons are similar to an FBI SWAT team, responding to critical situations as well as covertly stomping out political dissenters.
Within the STS are two distinct units:
Hostage Rescue Team (HRT)
The HRT are the creme de la creme of INTSOC, comprised of extremely highly trained men: they are the force of choice for very high level operations and hostage rescue. They are not present along the border.
These men are mostly picked from Crisis Response Squadrons and are put through extremely grueling training.
Within the entire PRT, they number about 140 - 200 men in total.
(Used in admin events only)
Crisis Response Squadrons (CRS)
The CRS is a backbone unit within INTSOC, tasked with conducting raids, hostage rescues and a variety of special operations within TIFEPOL.
Being on the “frontline”, they are expected to be able to respond quickly and individual teams are deployed all over the PRT in a state of constant readiness.
(Used during raids)
Whilst, the Anti-Swarming Teams take on a different role altogether; handling riots and operations involving the suppression of hordes of people. There are two subunits within this category:
Riot Control Squadrons (RCS)
Riot police, they are attached to line departments within TIFEPOL. Despite their tough training, they are not as well trained as the STS units.
Riot Control Squadrons are a standard detachment element from INTSOC that operates alongside standard line departments on the field. Unlike their raid counterparts: the CRS, the RCS Operators are trained to respond to and quell riots across the PRT’s territories.
They are also trained to utilise anti-swarming tactics. In the event of a riot taking place outside a government quarter, Installation Security Agents from the Protective Security Command will act as first responders to keep rioters away whilst the RCS gears up to deploy as second wave responders.
(Used during riots)
Special Prison Emergency Actions and Response (SPEAR) Teams
SPEAR Teams are not really a part of INTSOC, though INTSOC is involved in training and selecting SPEAR personnel.
SPEAR teams are actually a detachment from the “Tidewater Prison Service” under the Justice Ministry that handles prison riots and prevent prison breakouts.
(Not used in RP at all)
Crisis Negotiation Unit
A Specialist unit within INTSOC, this unit is staffed by personnel trained to talk down situations in order to put TIFEPOL personnel in a position where they have non-violent options to resolve a conflict on the table.
(Used only for crisis)
--Specialist Staff Departments--
Criminal Investigations Department (CID)
The Criminal Investigations Department, as its name implies: is tasked with conducting investigations regarding a large variety of criminal acts. From homicides to treason, the department operates in the shadows, being the firm and steady hand that supports the line departments.
Tasked with solving crimes and collecting information by speaking to witnesses, informants or even through interrogation.
Detectives in CID are given special access to various types of classified information based on their rank.
They are also trained to conduct forensics analysis in order to support the line departments in their work.
Police Intelligence Division (PID)
The Police Intelligence Division, on the otherhand, also collects information and runs background checks, documentation of sensitive information and assists the CID in conducting interrogations.
Tasked with solving crimes and collecting information by speaking to witnesses, informants or even through interrogation.
Detectives in PID are given special access to various types of classified information based on their rank.
They are also trained to conduct forensics analysis in order to support the line departments in their work.
Administration and Finance Department
The Administration and Finance department is an extremely important department within TIFEPOL tasked with handling internal administration and affairs, such as the allocation of funding, which is crucial to the organisation continuing to function with an appropriate amount of resources at its disposal.
An underrated but vital job within the federal police is clerk. Clerks are staff personnel with limited access to sensitive information or areas. Lower ranking agents also have the double duty of operating the frontdesk in different field offices across Tidewater. However, the department is tasked with many manners of internal affairs such as finances, helping to allocate the right amount of funding for different departments. They also calculate salaries and hand out payslips to ensure that all personnel are paid on time.
Police Logistics Division (PLD)
The Police Logistics Division, like the administration department: is an important subdepartment within TIFEPOL that handles and maintains all of the organisation’s resources. Whenever something goes missing or whenever the line units need anything: it is the PLD’s responsibility to ensure that the Line Units have what they need to accomplish their tasks.
Quartermasters are senior ranking agents deployed within a line unit that manage the day-to-day usage of resources and supplies. They are also able to place orders for new pieces of equipment and kit in order to allocate them to different units such as stabproof vests or firearms.
Behind every line unit, there is sure to be at least a few quartermasters operating behind the scenes.
They are the equivalent to an army logistics officer.
--Miscellaneous law enforcement agencies within the PRT--
Federal Narcotics Bureau (FNB)
Drug enforcement agency within the PRT, complete with its own special task force for drug raids. (Often a detachment from INTSOC)
The Federal Narcotics Bureau is a subagency of TIFEPOL and the federal-level drug enforcement agency within TIFEPOL. Tasked with stifling drug trading and hunting down dew smuggling syndicates, the Federal Narcotics Bureau works extremely closely alongside regular TIFEPOL Line Departments, even conducting joint raids.
Federal Narcotics Bureau Special Task Force (STF)
The Special Task Force is a variation of a standard CRS detachment with additional training to identify different types of narcotics and contraband, as well as conduct vehicle interdictions.
Members from the Special Task Force are FNB Special Agents that have been trained by INTSOC personnel, and thus can also be considered a joint-INTSOC unit that regular TIFEPOL Line Units can call upon for assistance in drug-related raids.
Tidewater Prison Service (TPS)
Under the Justice Department, the TPS maintains the various federal prisons in Tidewater. Some of its personnel are detachments from TIFEPOL
TPS is not RPed in-game, exception to transport personnel that take prisoners to Dixie/other prisons.
The Tidewater Prison Service runs the following prisons:
--Prisons in the PRT--
New Atlanta Correctional Facility
The most well known correctional facility in Tidewater. It is rumoured to house most of the PRT's criminally insane. It's referred to as a maximum security prison with a way in, but no way out. It has seen no corruption, but sometimes violence has occurred between staff and patients, usually ending up in the deaths of the latter. The prison mainly serves to 'show the citizens of New Atlanta what criminals truly are now, and what they always will be.
Tidewater Federal Correctional Facility
Tidewater Federal Correctional Facility Best known as the "Dixie Prison", it's the most open and positive-reputed imprisonment facility in the Georgia-region, it is also the largest in all of tidewater, dwarfing all other correctional facilities with its massive size. It's well known as a rather large prison split into three wings. The "Youth Detention Center", "Women's Detention Center", and "Men's Detention Center", all of which, are sparsely separated for 'security' reasons. The facility is made to hold common criminals that usually perform crimes with minimal consequences, and the prison has been described to be more 'hospital-like', with more advanced healthcare than that of other correctional facilities. It's a 'dream facility' for anyone that has committed a crime that has lead to imprisonment in any of the other correctional facilities.
Northern Federal Prison
Formerly the highest-security prison in the PRT that used to withhold POWs from the United States. In 2107, a coup d'etat happened in the prison, in which most of the guards were slain with improvised weaponry. All of the prisoners that were involved in the coup were slain with the losses of 1594 prisoners and 673 guards. All other prisoners were shipped into the Southern Federal Prison, which lead into it's overflow. After the event, the prison's re-construction began in 2108, and it's expected to be finished in 2117. As of 2115, there are only 4 out of blocks in the prison that have finished construction, with all 4 of them currently in use in order to cope with the PRT's constant flow of criminals and prisoners entering.
Southern Federal Prison
One of the largest prisons in the PRT. It's unfortunately become underfunded by the state. Despite being built for 10 000 inmates, it has experienced an immense overflow of up to 25 000 inmates. Escapes are frequent, so the prison was put in permanent Iockdown in 2115 for demolition in 2120 if the re-construction of the Northern Federal Prison doesn't finish by then. What is to be done with the prisoners in the meantime is unknown. The critical state of the prison has led into neglect from the guards, leaving the prisoners often locked in their cells with only small amounts of food per day.
Western Federal Prison
This correctional facility is much mild and 'softer' than other correctional facilities throughout Tidewater. Made to house mostly women and criminals that have committed less severe crimes like petty thievery, the prison has somewhat 'comfortable' living standards and inmates are rarely abused. The prisons inmates however are forced to sing the PRT's national anthem from dawn to dusk everyday until they were thoroughly indoctrinated. Prisoners are also required to take mandatory classes on the PRT's history, along with anti-US and pro-PRT propaganda being fed to them daily.
Eastern Federal Prison
This particular facility has been known, unlike other facilities, as a 'testing ground' used by the government. No cameras or methods of documentation are allowed upon entering with a special permit granted by the warden. The prison has got itself entangled with various sorts of tests regarding fields of psychology and physiology, including isolation tests, electric shocks, experiments including malnourishment and hard labor, and mind control tests. The Eastern Federal Prison is known as a 'scary place' for most civilians and prisoners alike, but due to limited access and a lack of documentation, the facility's true purpose is only visible to higher-up government authorities. Because of its the atrocities committed in the facility, it is the most secretive prison within the PRT. Visitors are almost never allowed to enter, with only TIFEPOL personnel and members with high level security clearance granted access. However, the facility is not without its darker secrets. A secret underground wing, dubbed: "Test Wing" is located in the northeastern tip of the facility. Inside this wing there are numerous work halls and testing facilities made to house criminals blamed of attempted destabilization of the state, and political opposition that could lead into severely damaging the government. This wing is also reserved for soldiers accused of treason, desertion, and other crimes regarding military service and military intelligence. Inmates in this secret wing are subject to forced labour day and night, doing mundane jobs such as shoveling coal and the manufacturing of items like hinges, and other common materials. Sometimes even military equipment such as rigs and uniforms, but the manufacturing such is done under supervision, with no prisoner being allowed to take a single one of these uniforms into their own use. If a prisoner refuses to perform their duties, they will be subjected to 72 hours of isolation in a 12ftx12ftx12ft cubical isolation chamber with no sort of visual or auditory stimuli allowed. Most people in the "Test Wing" are present in the facility for a life sentence, so they are subjected to this said treatment for the rest of their lives.
